I Love You To The Rocketship

Okay folks it's been quite a while since I've done this so bear with me as I shake the cobwebs loose and try to focus on one thought. Ever noticed how fast things can change in just the blink of an eye? My little Sprout is no longer a sprout. He's a walking, talking mini-me with a voracious appetite for knowledge. It has amazed me to see him grow and discover the little things that I walk right by and never notice. I'm closing in on year four of living with my little miracle and he never ever fails to make me stop and smile at something new he's come up with. An old box with a few of his most treasured toys becomes a gift that he just loves to hand to you. The look of pride on that little face as you open the same thing for the 50th time still melts my heart. The innocence of him trying his best to convince you that there's an honest to goodness frog living in his bed while you know the noise is coming from outside gets a smile every time. But by far the simplest yet most endearing thing he does is tell me that he loves me each and every day. That is the most impressive quality about my child. That little bitty heart of his can hold so much love for his mommy that you'd think it impossible. He doesn't understand hatred, discrimination, or any of the other ugliness that exists in this world. Only love. Imagine what it would be like if the rest of us could see the world through the eyes of a child. No fear or self-doubt. No violence or mistrust. Only pure unfiltered love. I hope that he's able to keep that as long as the world will allow. That is the only thing that will truly change him. I'll do my best to be the best mommy I can be and make sure he always knows that what I do is all for him. There will come a day I know that he doesn't look at his mommy through the same eyes, but he will always know that he comes first with me. So for now I think I'll just sit back and enjoy watching him grow and learn. My child tells me he loves me to the rocketship. Well, Evan I love you to the rocketship right back!
